Super Rugby South Africa team will compete with the current Guinness PRO14 club in the Rainbow Cup” competition this year.
The Sharks, Bulls, Stormers, and the Lions will participate in the competition, with 12 clubs from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and Italy.
In the Rainbow Cup competition, each South African team will play three European Tour matches, whereas all 12 Guinness PRO14 clubs will play in South Africa. The Rainbow Cup will start on 17 April and will end with the final on 19 June 2021.
SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux said: The addition of the South African Super team in the Rainbow Cup is a new path for us. After so much turbulence and uncertainty in 2020, we will The prospect of returning to top international and domestic competitions are something we all can look forward to with excitement.
In this Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup, 16 teams will take part, which will be divided into two groups of eight, including two Irish, two South African, two Welsh, one Italian, and one Scottish club. Every team plays one game against each pool opponent, and the teams that reach the top of their pools will compete with each other in a final on June 19th.
