The 2021 season brings for you the double event excitement,  as Super Rugby will be held two times during the 2021 season. Today, New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and Australian Rugby (RA) declared a 6-week Sky Super Rugby Trans-Tasman competition that will begin on May 14.


2021 Super Rugby Trans-Tasman will include 10 Super Rugby clubs, five from New Zealand and five from Australia, both nations will play a total of 25 matches in the five weeks. The Super Rugby final will happen on Saturday, 19 June. All super rugby 26 matches will be a live broadcast and exclusively on Sky. The Crusaders, Hurricanes, Blues, Highlanders, and the Chiefs will compete in five matches against Western Force, Brumbies, Queensland Reds, Melbourne Rebels, and NSW Waratahs, each team will play two home games in New Zealand.


All teams will also take part in two away games, and the fifth team will take part in the Super Round, where all of the third round games will be played in one place over the weekend.


Australian Rugby and New Zealand Rugby will announce the time, date, and location of the Sky Super Rugby Trans-Tasman and the process by which the Super Round location will be selected in due course.


After the five-week games, the final will be played on the combined competition ladder between the two best teams, whereby the team has achieved the first home advantage for the decider.


Sky Super Rugby Trans-Tasman is a good result for fans on both sides of the Tasman, and it also proves the strong relationship between New Zealand rugby and Australian rugby.
