SANZAAR Suspended 2020 Super Rugby Schedule

SANZAAR finally decide to suspend the Super rugby 2020 tournament due to critical situations surrounding Covid-19.

After New Zealand government declaration that all returning travelers such as Super rugby players will need to isolate themselves for 14 days, in the response of that SANZAAR Executive Committee made a conference call and said that there is no choice than to suspend the Super rugby 2020 competition at the end of the weekends to expect for a long time to come.

New Zealand five teams are participating in the 15-team Super Rugby competition, and SANZAAR fully comprehend the New Zealand government's policy because of global concerns about the COVID-19 virus and the main goal is to diminish contact and spreading of the virus.

Andy Marinos, CEO of SANZAR declared, the security and government assistance of general society, our players and different partners are central and earlier he said that we were continually going to submit to government and wellbeing authority guidelines on the issue of COVID-19 control.

We are upset for our players, fans, partners, and broadcasters, however, the complexity of our competitive structure and the different regions we cover, we have no choice but to follow such guidelines. Currently, we had played a total of 7 rounds out of 18 rounds.

Moreover, because of coronavirus outbreak the game Jaguares Vs Highlanders was canceled which was scheduled for 14 March 2020 at José Amalfitani Stadium in Buenos Aires. The decision was made due to concerns in response to the doubt created by Highlanders Players and Management. New Zealand government announced that those who are returning or travelers self-isolated themselves.

According to SANZAAR Tournament Rules, the 2020 super rugby tournament was canceled by SANZAAR Executive Committee after meeting with key partners. In due course, the decision is made to make sure the security and health of all members, however, also keep up the uprightness of the games
